Rising Jr Night March 20

All students in the class of 2019 and their parents are invited to attend our annual Rising Junior Night, scheduled for Monday, March 20th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the Media Center.

Dr. Rogers will provide an overview and orientation to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, and Guidance Counselors will review other important information for junior year, including college planning, SAT/ACT & National Honor Society.

Rising Senior Night February 21

 

Our annual Rising Senior Night event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 21st from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the Media Center. We will provide an overview and orientation to the college planning and application process, as well as review other important information for senior year, including Extended Essay (EE), Creativity Action Service (CAS) and Senior Mentorship.

We are looking forward to working with you all on a successful college planning journey. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Info for Sophomore Students & Parents

As we head into marking period 4, the Guidance Office has several activities planned for the sophomores, with the goal of helping them end their year on a successful note and prepare for the upcoming transition into IB students.

(1) Advisor Groups: Sophomores will be meeting with the junior/senior Peer Leaders in Advisor Groups on Friday 4/29. The focus will be on reflecting​ ​on your​ ​Biotech experiences thus far and planning for your future successes​ ​entering junior year.

(2) Rising Junior Night: All students in the class of 2018 and their parents are invited to attend our Rising Junior Night, scheduled for Tuesday, May 24th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the Media Center. We will provide an overview and orientation to the IB Program, as well as review other important information for junior year.

(3) Individual Guidance Meetings: Each sophomore student will meet individually with their Guidance Counselor (Mr. Brown: A to L; Ms. Krauter: M to Z) throughout the month of May. Prior to our meeting, please complete the "Sophomore Guidance Survey" in Naviance.

College Major & Career Exploration -

Testing Plan - Work towards completing college admissions testing by the end of junior year, if possible
  • All juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT on October 19, 2016
  • SAT Dates 2016-17 (tentative)
  • ACT Dates 2016-17 (tentative)
  • List of Monmouth County Organizations Providing SAT/ACT Prep
  • Suggested Timeline For SAT/ACT:
    - SAT (first attempt): Dec 2016 or Jan 2017
    - SAT (second attempt): March 2017 or May 2017
    - ACT (if necessary): April 2017 or June 2017
  • Suggested Timeline For Subject Tests:
    - Math Level II SAT Subject Test: at the conclusion of IB Math I; either June 2016 or June 2017
    - Molecular Biology SAT Subject Test: June 2017
    - Additional Subject Tests (if necessary): June 2017 and/or October 2017
