Athlete Spotlight: Carly Geissler

By Maryam Khalid, A.J. Fezza

At the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions on March 18, 2018, the Manasquan girls’ basketball team beat the Franklin team by a score of 72-60. Biotech’s own senior Carly Geissler helped secure the victory. “Carly Geissler knocked down a 3-pointer to give Manasquan a 17-point advantage before Franklin went on its run.”

Here’s what Carly had to say about the game:

How did you feel winning when your team, Manasquan, won a Tournament of Champions title?

“Winning the Tournament of Champions my senior year the icing on the cake for my high school basketball career. That team is my family and to be able to pull out that win and get revenge for last year where we fell in the same game to the same team felt amazing. Being a senior, I’m extremely sad to see my time with Manasquan Girls Basketball come to an end, but I’m so proud to have worn those words across my chest for the past four years.”

How was it to knock down that three-pointer, giving your team a mass advantage and contributing to a legendary win?

“Making those two shots in a moment where our season was on the line really encompasses what being a senior means to me. I was so happy I was able to help my team when we needed it most. Making the shots felt great but seeing the smiles on my teammates’ faces is what I will never forget.”
